  • DÉBUTANTS EN POLE DANCE : 4 CONSEILS AVANT DE SE LANCER
  • Beginners in Pole Dance: 4 Tips Before You Start

    Sabine Thouvenin

Here we go! You've signed up for your first pole class, you've taken the leap and decided to discover the fantastic world of pole dance. (And trust us, it's amazing.)

Before your first class, here at Les Polettes, we have a few tips for you:

    1. PREP YOUR SKIN

☀️ In pole dance, your skin is your best friend, your sidekick, your ally. But if you don't want it to let you down, you need to look after it:

    • Moisturise well on the days between your pole classes
    • Don't moisturise on a day when you plan to pole

It sounds technical, but it'll help you grip the bar much better and pull off your most beautiful pole dance figures! ✨

    2. WEAR THE RIGHT OUTFIT

➡️ During the warm-up: wear standard sportswear while you warm up your muscles ☀️

➡️ For pole dance: it's important to have a technical outfit that leaves enough skin exposed to grip the bar, and that's comfortable.

Haven't found your outfit yet? No worries, Les Polettes have got you covered! ✨

    3. COME WITH AN OPEN MIND

You're about to step into your first class. Whatever your preconceptions, starting strength or flexibility, everything comes with time! ⏰

Wear what makes you comfortable, come with a light mind and progress step by step with your teacher's help! ☀️ Most importantly, have fun: pole is all about enjoying yourself!

    4. WARM UP PROPERLY

Before starting your first session, make sure to follow these steps for a proper warm-up:

✅ Wake up your joints by gently rotating them left and right.

Stretch each muscle group to warm up your body.

✅ Do some muscle strengthening on the floor (push-ups, plank, abs).

☀️ If you don't have a teacher to guide you through the warm-up, use this video:
